A Nashville, TN native, but growing up in Pittsburgh, PA, Katie received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She began her journey in early childhood in Hawaii, where her husband was stationed for 3 years with the Army. While in Hawaii, she worked for a child development center on base.
After the Army, Katie had twin boys, William and JT, and spent one year at home with them. Then they all joined a preschool close to home. A few years later, her daughter Molly joined their family. Katie spent 16 years working as a director in this preschool setting.
In 2024, Katie left this position to have more time with family, and because she was eager to get back into a classroom and spend her days with the children. Once she visited a Montessori classroom, she realized that was an environment she wanted to be a part of. She then spent the next year and half working on completing her primary Montessori certification through the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. When she is not working, she enjoys travelling, watching Steelers football and spending as much time outside as she can.
